Extended Rudder

The image above left shows Daves Lifting rudder he has decided to use this type as he sails in shallow estuary waters and wants to be able to beach easily.

The image above left shows the bow being trimmed ready to be primed with resin/hardener mix prior to being filled above right with high density filleting mix.

The image above left shows the the tape being wet out and the image above right show the tape being Squeegee'd once the taping has cured it can be sanded and faired to the hull ready for the final sheathing.

The image above left shows the final pigmented coat of epoxy resin being applied to the outside of the hull using a short pile roller again "sponge rollers are useless for this job" as they shred themselves to bits. The image on the above right shows the final touch up using a brush this also removes any air bubbles formed by the over enthusiastic use of the roller.
